The Secretary of State maintains a link on cyberdriveillinois.com that permits one to search for titles or lienholders for a vehicle with the VIN.
This is the only searchable database available for titles or lienholders and the information is only as valid as the last known Illinois title. This may be a particularly valuable resource for mobile/manufactured homes as many times people do not understand that they need to have title for a mobile home in order to sell or scrap the home.
