On a vote of 9 -7, the Illinois House Judiciary Committee approved House Amendment #1 to HB 4123 which allows the bill to advance to the House Floor for further debate.
Testimony by IMHA at the committee hearing exposed several potential flaws in the bill which were recognized by the Committee members who instructed the sponsor, Rep Marty Moylan (D- Des Plains), to work with IMHA in an attempt to correct the flaws or they would not support the bill on the floor.
Huge thanks to the ninety-seven (97) IMHA members who filed witness slips in opposition to the bill. Only one (1) proponent, MHOAI, had filed in support. Your efforts added the necessary impact to correcting this situation.
