Housing Committee Postpones Hearing SB 1043, Approves HB 5938

Springfield – Due largely to the efforts of all the IMHA members who submitted letters, petitions, faxes and made phone calls in opposition the sponsor of the relocation tax bill SB 1043 did not call the bill for a hearing today in the Illinois House of Representatives, Housing Committee meeting. IMHA was on hand to offer testimony, but no discussion was heard. This bill has not gone away. With the entire General Assembly out on the campaign trail next week ahead of the primary election, the next possible date for hearings is March 19th. We will continue to work with the sponsor, and others, to seek the best advantage for our members.

Thank you for all your efforts.

The Housing Committee did give approval to HB 5938 which creates the "Conveyance and Encumbrance of Manufactured Homes as Real Property and Severance Act" which, among other things, sets forth certain conditions that must be met to convey or voluntarily encumber a manufactured home as real property.

For more information on these and all other pending state legislation, please check the IMHA legislation page or give us a call at (217) 528-3423.
